Questions You May Have...

1. When do we leave for camp?

We will meet at 9:00am on Monday, June 3, at A&M Church of Christ. We will take church buses and additional vehicles driven by the parents who are going to camp with us for the week.

2. Where will my child stay while at camp?
Our group will be staying in large cabins while at camp. These cabins are air-conditioned and have twin-size bunk beds. Your son/daughter will be placed in a specific cabin based on their gender and grade level.

3. What will my child have to eat during the week?

All of our meals will be prepared by our staff and served in the camp dining hall. We are excited about being able to prepare our own meals and we have some great parents who will take care of all of the meals for the week.  Between meals, we will also provide snacks for all of our students.  If your son/daughter has any specific dietary needs, let us know and we will work with you to come up with a plan to meet those needs.

4. What is the camp schedule?

A final copy of the schedule will be available as camp gets closer. Here’s a sample of what the schedule might look like:

7:15 – Wake Up
8:00 – Morning Devo
8:15 – Breakfast
9:00 – Daily Bible Study groups
10:00 – Arts and Crafts
11:00 – Games and outdoor activities
12:00 – Lunch

6:00 – Supper
7:00 – Nightly activities
8:00 – Evening Devo
8:45 – to Cabins
9:15 – Go to bed

 5. When do I pick my child up from camp?

We will return to A&M Church of Christ at noon on June 7.

6. Can friends come to MEGA DAYS with my child?

Absolutely.  We love for friends or relatives to come to MEGA DAYS.  Let them know about the MEGA DAYS webpages so they can find out about the camp, and let them know they can sign-up online.  If the parents of your child's friend has a question, feel free to have them call or email us.

7. My child is on daily medication, who will see to it that they receive it?
Our adult staff will make sure all students receive their prescribed medication each day.  ALL MEDICATION must be clearly marked with you child's name and turned in upon check-in at the church building on June 3. Please include specific information about the dosage times and amounts for your son/daughter.

8. Does my child need spending money?

No. We will provide everything they need for the week. There is not a camp store nor is their opportunity to purchase snacks/drinks at camp. Our experience is that money tends to get lost at summer camp, so we will take care of all costs during the week.

9. Are cell phones, cd players, etc. allowed at camp?

No.  We do not allow campers to have cell phones, TV's, game boys, CD players, ipods, MP3 players, etc. at camp. This camp will be a week to leave behind all of the technology in our lives and focus on God. We ask your cooperation with this. If you need to reach your child at anytime during the week, you can call Monty or Heather or Jenni’s cell phone, or you can call Waters Edge Camp directly.   The reasoning behind this is that phones can often be a distraction and provide interruptions at camp.   Please understand we want your child to tell you everything about camp when they get home! We mean everything...so plan some special time for this!  However, we want them to connect with friends at camp and interact with everyone who is at camp instead of constantly calling/texting back home to family or friends. This is the same policy we have for our middle schoolers on all trips and for our high schoolers on most trips. Please know you can always reach your son/daughter by calling Monty, Heather, or Jenni.  We will also have other adults from our church who have cell phones during the week.

10.
What kinds of things are not permitted at camp?

Waterguns, water balloons, shaving cream, fireworks, stink bombs, knives (of any type), things intended to play a practical joke on someone, etc.  All of these things are prohibited at camp.

11. What happens if my child gets sick during the week?

If your son/daughter gets sick during the week, we will contact you.  If they have a fever or other medical condition which requires them to return home, we will need the parent to be available to pick them up from camp.

12. My child went to MEGA DAYS last year.  Will they have their same counselor as last year?

Well, we don't know for sure.  We're excited to say that most of our students who were counselors last year are returning again this year...and we'll have some additional high school students who will join our counseling staff.  Even through their previous counselors may be there, your son/daughter may have new counselors.  Your child will still have an opportunity to interact with their counselors from last year during many of our activities.

13.  What happens if a child has lice at camp?

Each student who attends MEGA DAYS will be checked for lice on the first day of camp.  If a child has lice, they will not be able to stay at camp.  We will call the child's parent to come and pick the child up from camp.  Unfortunately, students will not be able to return to MEGA DAYS 2019 even after the lice is treated. (So please, check them before camp...we do not want anyone to miss camp.)

14. How do I pay the registration fee if the registration form is an online form?

Parents are able to pay the registration fee by cash, check, credit, or debit card.  Credit and debit transactions are handled securely through our Church Community Builder website.  Parents who prefer to pay by cash or check can turn in their registration fee by mailing it to church, bringing it to the church office, putting it in the Youth Box (in The Refinery) or by dropping it off at Monty's or Jenni's office when they are at church.
