Chappel, Tamara.jpgTamara Chappel

A&M Consolidated High School

What town were you born in? Bryan, Texas

How long have you gone to A&M Church of Christ? 6 years

School/Community Activities: Girls Anchor Club, Lady Tiger Basketball and Track

Church Activities: Middle School Retreat, Soul Link, Camp Cornerstone, Waco Mission Trip, High School Retreat, Winterfest, Uplift, Sunnybrook Mission Trip, Paint-O-Rama, Mega Days Counselor

What are your plans for the future? Attend Blinn College - majoring in Nursing.

What is your favorite youth group memory? Singing “You gotta take the Lord with you, children” on the way to and from Mississippi with the intern named Victor!

What is your favorite scripture? Why is it your favorite? Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” I grew up always hearing this verse and my mom always told me that I can do anything I want to do with Christ who gives me the strength to do it.

Who is your favorite Bible character? Why are they your favorite? Moses because God led him through so many things - which brings me back to the verse, Philippians 4:13.

Who has had the most influence on your in your spiritual growth? My mom and my uncle.

What have you learned during the Covid-19 quarantine and by school finishing earlier than expected? It’s sad that this had to happen but this made me grow closer in my relationship with God. It showed me that he is in control because without him I would not know what to do or where I would be.

How would you like others to see you (what do you hope they would say about you)?   I would want others to see me as a person who was caring, loving, and put others before herself. I want others to know that I care more about people than myself and that God is #1.

What will you always remember about going to church at A&M Church of Christ? I will always remember how much love this church had. They showed so much love to people who belong to the church and those who weren’t apart of the church yet (visitors). They welcome everyone.

One of the most important events in my life so far is... Going to Camp of the Hills in 2019. I never knew my love would have such an impact on the campers that I dealt with every week. I was able to share my life story with the campers, and as it turned out, we grew up the same. I’m glad God led me to being a counselor. It was all in his plan and he showed me the right thing to do that summer. If I never experienced that, I would not be the kind of caring person I am today!

What are some ways you would like to serve God in your life? By putting others first, going out of my way to give when I know it will make others happy, spreading the word of God to others that do not know our God and to help people that don’t have as much as I have. SHOWING GODS LOVE!

The world would be a better place if: Everyone loved each other.

What would you like to say to the younger teens in the youth group?    Always keep your friendships close with your church friends. If you need someone to talk to, about anything, they will always be there for you, no matter what.

What would you like to say/how would you express appreciation to your parents? Thank you, mom and dad, for always being there and telling me to keep my head up. When there were times I was frustrated or when I felt like I just wanted to give up, y’all were always there telling me to keep on going and don’t give up. God’s got me. I’m so blessed to have y’all in my life and to have parents that actually care about their children. Thank you for keeping me protected from the evil ways of the world and for protecting me. I love you all so, so much. Thank you for taking care of me.

What would you like to say to God? Thank you for blessing me to come this far and get to experience this.  Many people don’t get to experience this. Thank you for always being there for me and for letting wake up to see another day. Thank you for giving me the patience, strength, and energy to make it through the finish line. You gave me patience with school work and allowed me to help others who needed help, also. God, you are so good and I’m blessed to have the family that I have. I came a long way. I’m happy with the person that I am today. I will continue to pray that you will help me to keep you first and to put others before myself. Thanks Dad!

What would you like to say to our church family? Thank you all so much for being there for me and my family. Whenever there were times when we needed help, were struggling, or just needed someone to talk to, y’all were always there.  Not just for my family, but for anyone that needed help. You have helped in so many ways. There is no way I could ever repay you. I thank God for blessing us to have a church family that actually cares and knows how to love any and every one! I love you all!

What have you learned about God lately? He is always there when I need him the most. He has been showing up in so many ways in my life. God will always be there when you feel like others are not there
