A&M Youth
Starting in September 2021, we will again
have small group Bible studies for our MS
and HS students on Sunday evenings. We are
looking for some great small group leaders to
help our students grow in faith and grow in
community with one another.
Here are some of the details:
Small groups will meet on Sunday nights
starting at 7:00pm.
We will meet from mid-September through
mid-November.
Small groups will be mixed between ages and genders. We will per-assign students to groups.
Lessons and discussion guides will be provided each week.
Some specific things to know:
1) We're looking for people who can help facilitate discussion times.
Our small groups are intended to be discussion based. That means
you won't be doing a lot of teaching, but rather guiding. You'll help
guide students into learning more about the truth of Jesus.
2) Building community is important. We want our students to grow in
their friendships with each other and we want them to get to know you.
We also want you to know them. Know about things in their life. Get to know them well enough to know some things about their family, their faith, and their friendships with others. We do not want it to be something where you come on Sunday nights, see them for an hour and then do not think about them for the rest of the week. Instead, we hope you'll pray for your students. If the opportunity arises, we hope you'll be able to encourage your students through occasional text messages or notes in the mail.
3)
3) Some of your students will really encourage you. You'll love getting to know them. You'll have hope for the future of the world just because of some of your students. However, some of your students may discourage you because of their words or behavior. We want you to love your students wherever they are and help them grow in their relationship with God. Enjoy the ones who encourage you. And be an encourager to the ones who are may at times be a source of frustration. We do not anticipate students being a source of frustration to you, but we want you to know that we do our best to walk with students through the ups and downs of life and the ups and downs of faith.
4) Let them see your faith in God...and let them see you growing in your faith in God. When small groups are over, students will not remember all of the lessons you taught. They will however remember you. They'll remember how you treated them. They'll remember things about your life. They'll remember whether or not you cared about them. They'll remember your faith and how that faith lives out in your life. So let them see your love for the Lord shine through in your love for them.
If you have questions about small groups, talk to Monty or Heather anytime.
Thanks for considering being a small group leader, and know that we are praying for you.
